Candles

The day started with my usual call with the Empson cousins. Everyone seemed well and on good form. The main event for the day, however, was a trip to Jane and Trevor's.

Today was Trevor's birthday and Jane had arranged for us to come for lunch along with John and Sophies, and Mark and Lel. We had a strange trip up to Wokingham, with the SatNav trying to reroute us time and again, but always showing that the original route had a similar ETA. This made the purpose of the alternate route seem questionable. I stuck with route one.

We were greeted with some very welcome coffee and a chance to chat. Mark and the fabled Lel were already there, and it was nice to meet her, finally.

John and Sophie turned up soon after us. It was the first time we had seen them for ages, and it was nice to have time for a chat.

As usual, Jane laid on a wonderful feast and a great deal of laughter seemed to punctuate the meal (not a reflection on Jane's cooking, I would add).

After lunch, Trevor and I went for a walk and on our return we all gathered in the living room for some cake and some more chat.

It is Lel's birthday this coming week, so we also wished her a Happy Birthday and she opened some cards and presents.

We left just before 18:00 and had a wonderful run home. We were back by 19:30 and settled down for a quiet evening.
