Q2

Still in the queue, but have the token which confirms that GF will get the model he wants.

Queue is starting to loop back on itself.

Queue

Sad really.

Gorse Fox is in the queue for the iPad 2 outside the Apple store.

Not Simon

It has been very intense day. From the moment GF approached the Starfleet building he knew it would be busy... and so it was. A day spent juggling the demands of three separate bids proved a little challenging, but not impossible.

GF headed for the hotel and stopped off at Garfunkel's for a bite to eat. Those who know the Gorse Fox will know that he is very partial to spare ribs. He was, therefore, delighted that he had only ordered half a rack... as they really were a disappointment.

For the record, ribs should not need sharp implements. Just pick them up and beckon the meat. It should leap straight into the mouth without any coercion.

That's better

Silver Vixen reports that the heating is fixed. Failure of thermocouple again, apparently.

Going home... slowly

Gorse Fox left the hotel at seven and headed for the station and the run south. Three and a half hours later he has just passed Gatwick. Could be a long morning!

Cold

Silver Vixen reports that there is snow back home, and weather warnings for tomorrow.

GF hopes he manages to get home tomorrow.

Heat

The client meeting was delayed, but at least it was fairly short. By 19:15 GF was heading out into the cold for the walk back to the hotel. The question that was running through what passes for consciousness was "what should be done about dinner?"

Most of the restaurants were busy. Many had queues. Gorse Fox marched on. Opposite the hotel is an Indian restaurant. He peered through the window. It was empty. He entered and apologized that he hadn't booked.  A table was provided and the meal ordered. A wheelbarrow full of chilies was tipped into the dish. Even for GF, it was hot.

As he left 30 minutes later the ice started to melt within a radius of about 7.5 metres. GF suspects this may be a dish that keeps on giving.

Stuff them

It was cold and the Gorse Fox was less than thrilled to be returning to the metaphorical coal face after last week's holiday.

The skivers who work the tubes were on strike and it was threatening to be a naff day. Despite the efforts of the tube strikers, GF managed to get to work on time. Unfortunately several colleagues were delayed so the review he was planning to conduct had to be delayed by an hour.

In the end the review took about four and a half hours and went well.

Exeter

Enjoying a few pleasant hours in Exeter.

Back

After several hours offline,  (story to follow) GF is back on the grid.

Chatting away

This is just an experimental post , I am trying the voice input from the phone . It seems to work well , though it is limited to short phrases.

Good'un

GF has had a good day. His hotel, though remote from Starfleet, turned out to be fairly handy for the client's offices. The morning was spent designing system layouts and the afternoon in a meeting with th the client, who seemed keen to hear what we had to say.

A stop at Wagamama seemed a good diversion on the way back to the hotel and the televised England game... let's hope we win.

oops, concentrate now

The trouble with listening to audio books whilst you travel is that your concentration wanders. This is how the Gorse Fox found himself heading the wrong way around the Circle Line and arriving at Notting Hill Gate.

oops

Pass straight along please

The Gorse Fox is back in Starfleet's London base. It has been a good day with staff reviews, design work, and meetings with colleagues over some of the design choices. Not the sort of day that would hit the 10 o'clock news, but quietly satisfying.

GF is staying at a new hotel, to him. Seems ok - though the room is cozy (i.e. small). Not sure yet what the interet connectivity is like so GF is assuming that his phone will be coming to rescue as it so frequently does.

Clammy

It's hot and steamy in London tonight - we could really do with a good thunderstorm to clear the air.

For the Gorse Fox it has been a varied day - development of what we refer to as non-functional requirements, people reviews, programme resourcing, briefings, teleconferences and further development of a spreadsheet that will define how the systems we are designing will actually come together.

Travelling to and from work the Gorse Fox's iPod was tucked in his belt and leaked more of his current audiobook into his ears to drown the clatter of the rolling stock as it pottered back and forth along the District Line.

On a family note: GF's thought are with Urban-cub who had a wisdom tooth removed yesterday.

What is it about the Network Connection in this Hotel... they always seem to give trouble.

Rainbow

Self-defined rainbow. GF was a bit slow to get to his camera... the rainbow was fading. A few minutes earlier there had been a further rainbow outside the curve of this one, and the beauty of it was that (where we were) it wasn't raining - though it must have been in the air, just not making it to the ground.

Delays

Train journey home disrupted by what the railway euphemistically call trespass on the line. Driver admitted someone had been electrocuted.

See... electricity is not to be trusted.
