Ellie and Grandpa were left to make mischief while Diane went to the hairdresser. Maybe we don't fully embrace the rock and roll lifestyle, but we managed to complete a jigsaw, she did some reading, practised phonics, did some maths puzzles, and looked through a dictionary and a science book. It was a good and productive morning. Just before noon, her friend Ariana (along with her dad, Victor) came to collect Ellie for a playdate.

Diane returned from the hairdresser and went back out to collect her meds (the saga that began yesterday). She arrived at the pharmacy to find them queueing outside the door. Let's hope they have the correct prescription this time. Well, they didn't. Only because it was already out for delivery, so Diane could return home safe in the knowledge that she would have all the meds she required.

As soon as Diane returned, I nipped out in the car. I had to pick up some cat litter and then top up a few bits for the weekend. The Sainsbury's car park was an absolute zoo. I played my usual trick and deliberately selected a slot that was as far from the store as possible. I then walked and overtook most of the cars that had been ahead of me. It was pretty chaotic in the store but eased off after a while and was quite a leisurely shop.

Back home, Diane was wrapping presents. I got involved and before too long, they were all completed and stacked under the tree.

Ellie's friend brought her home just in time for Pete to sweep her up and take her home for the weekend.
