Half a dozen

It looked like a very promising day. A few clouds decorated the deep blue sky and it was already warm when the Gorse Fox got up.

The Gorse Fox had football this morning. We had another new player join us today. He seemed competent and the Gorse Fox suspects he will settle in over the coming weeks. The game was 5-a-side and was tit-for-tat right through until the last ten minutes. The way the teams had been chosen by the Gorse Fox dictated that he was on the weaker side. This meant that we had to work much harder through the game. It also meant that by the last ten minutes most of the team were on their knees and that cost us several goals as the goalies and one of the backs both decided separately to pass the ball directly to the opposition a couple of times, right in front of goal. The final score was 15-10, but the Gorse Fox was pleased to have scored 6 of our 10.

This afternoon the Silver Vixen's aunt, cousin and his wife came to visit and have dinner with us. The weather was till lovely so we we sat out in the garden and chatted. Urban-Cub turned up with Ellie, to say hello and have a brief chat - she, however, was not staying for dinner as Ellie had to get to bed. The Gorse Fox ordered the food from the Indian takeaway, then started to prepare some salmon and Jersey Royals (with salad) for the Silver Vixen and Aunt Jean. Everything was timed to perfection as the food was delivered just as the timer went off for the salmon.

We had moved inside to eat. There was a cool breeze that would have made it uncomfortable to stay outside. We had a lovely meal as Sue held court. Once in a while, Trevor managed to get a word in (and was corrected) but the rest of us knew our place.

It had ben a lovely afternoon and evening - and the third time we had seen them in three weeks. The Gorse Fox suspects it will be August before we see them again.
