Starting blocks

I had an excellent night's sleep, and it was gone 7am before I stirred. As usual, coffee was first on the agenda, and then I wandered through the news. After I was dressed, I received a phone call from Zoe, "Could you come round a bit earlier so that I could get to work as the chap is coming to fix my windscreen?" Of course I could. A few minutes later, the phone rang again, "Dad, can you bring some milk as Ellie wants cereal for breakfast?" Of course I could.

Ellie and I wandered along to school once she had finished her cereal and gathered her stuff together. It was a glorious morning, so I was delighted to have time to go for my pre-breakfast walk. I finished my latest Audiobook during the first lap of the Estate, then switched over to "I'm Sorry I Haven't a Clue" recordings on BBC Sounds. I chuckled my way through the last couple of laps, then went home for a coffee and some porridge.

I had a checklist for the day. The next item was to collect Diane's meds from the Chemist. This gave me an excuse for another walk and some more chuckles. Once home, I repacked my technology box. All the necessary cables, charges, adapters, battery packs and so forth made their way into the box and the lid was snapped shut. Another item ticked off.

As the day wore on, every item was checked and double-checked. I am now set and ready, with the exception of my toiletries, which will have to wait until morning.

I collected Ellie from school, and we stopped at the park on the way home. It was good to make the most of the lovely weather and give a chance to let off some steam. She was with us for dinner, but Zoe picked her up at 17:30, and we took the opportunity to give her a last-minute briefing, as she will be staying here while we are away.
