Damper

I was up just before 6:30 so that I could greet Ellie when she was dropped off. After our morning cuddle, she went up to see Nana, while I made some tea. We followed the usual pattern until it was time to go to school. The sky looked very threatening, so I told Nana to stay put, dressed in my waterproofs and set off with Ellie. We arrived at school just as the first drops of rain struck. Ellie went into class, and I realised that we had left her water bottle at home. As I set off to collect it, the heavens opened and pounded down on me until I arrived home. I called Di to hand me the water bottle and headed back to school. Amazingly, the rain was even heavier by then. The water bottle was delivered, and I returned home. I stripped off my jacket at the doorstep, then went inside and stripped off my shoes and waterproof trousers on the doormat. (Di had brought my normal trousers downstairs in anticipation).

It goes without saying that the rain stopped almost as soon as I arrived home. We had breakfast and then went to perform our weekly raid on Sainsbury's. It was amazingly quiet in the store, so we whistled around quite quickly.

After lunch, Di spent time in her sewing room finishing off the latest project (which had turned out to be quite an unexpected marathon). I read my Kindle in the Orangery until it was time to collect Ellie.

We heard from Kim.  She sounds as if she is in a bad way at present. The Chiropractic treatment yesterday has left her feeling battered and bruised, but has shone a light at the end of the tunnel. It is hoped that some concerted treatments over a couple of months should sort things out. Fingers crossed.

I have been expecting a delivery from UPS. I was told it would be here on Wednesday - it wasn't. This morning, soon after 7:15, I received an apology that there had been a "sortation" problem, and it had now been sent to the Southampton depot for delivery and will be with me by the end of the day. It wasn't. Thirty minutes ago, I received another notification that it will now be Friday before it is delivered. I had always regarded UPS as one of the reliable carriers, so I am quite disappointed by the delays. (Not because I am desperate for the item being delivered, but because they have twice set my expectations, and failed to fulfil their promise).
