Squirt

I was awake early. In fact, I was awake at 3:47, and sleep seemed to evade me for the rest of the night. I was drifting off at one point, but that coincided with Jasper practising one of his Oratorios. It goes without saying that I was up plenty of time for Ellie's drop-off. She had obviously got up early because she arrived washed and dressed in her school uniform, having had breakfast. We took her to school at the usual time, and Di headed home while I took my morning walk.

I had a number of administrative chores to clear during the morning, but then went along to The Oystercatcher at lunchtime. There was a committee meeting for the football club, and though I have stopped playing, I am still on the committee. I took the opportunity to resign from the group as it seemed rather hypocritical to have a say in the club when I was no longer participating. I will remain on their books, however, because the social side is fun around Christmas.

AT lunchtime, we were presented with a major disaster. The kettle had broken. There was no quick way to make tea. Five minutes on Argos found a suitable replacement with immediate availability at Shripney. I headed out, only to discover that we were surrounded by roadworks, and it was causing gridlock. I fought my way through and picked up the kettle. I also got someone to call Zoe down from the office so that I could warn her about the traffic chaos and suggested an alternate route home.

The afternoon saw 30 minutes of Kindle time before we collected Ellie and took her straight home to Zoe so that she could go to the counsellor in Chichester. We then headed back home for some more Kindle time. This, however, was interrupted by the landscape chap who had returned to fit the last few drippers to the irrigation system and refit the tubing so that it wasn't leaking from the manifold. It is now working, but some of the branches are squirting at the junction with the main tube. He will return tomorrow to fix that.
