Plans Change

Early yesterday evening, Zoe came to see us. Her toe was hurting, and this had the hallmarks of a recurrence of the infection she had had a couple of years ago. Diane dressed the toe, and Zoe went home. Mid-evening, we got a call, "Could Ellie sleep with us tonight?" Zoe had decided to go to A&E and wasn't sure how long she would be there. Ellie was dropped off soon after 9pm, and Zoe headed to A&E in Chichester.

It was 5:30am before she was able to come home. She had had blood tests and an IV drip. She was given some further meds to bring home and take over the next few days, during which time she had to rest the foot and keep it raised. She had left us messages that we saw when we got up, and we shared them with Ellie when she woke up. The usual morning protocol was followed, and at the allotted time, we walked Ellie to school. I was ready to peel off for a walk, but a cloudburst quite literally put the dampers on that idea.

The rest of the day followed the usual Thursday template, encompassing Lottie's visit, a trip to Sainsbury's, and a quiet hour or so with our Kindles before collecting Ellie. We took Ellie home so she could spend time with Zoe, and we invited them both back to our place for dinner so Zoe didn't have to stand and cook. They are back home again now, and I plan to pop around in the morning to walk Ellie to school.

Meanwhile, we have also heard from Kim, who has been suffering from recurring back trouble. She managed to go for a consultation yesterday, and though the full report won't be ready until next week, the Chiropractor is convinced she can help.  We are keeping our fingers crossed.
