Defender

It was a bright but cool autumn morning. The Gorse Fox had his coffee and breakfast then went round to se Urban-Cub and Ellie and walk with them to school. Once back home, he changed for football and headed off to Worthing.

The teams were very evenly balanced today, though the Gorse Fox's team had three players who were carrying injuries which were limiting their mobility. Despite this, we managed an unexpected 0-0 draw in the first game. In the second game we managed a 3-0 win. The last game, however, we lost 3-1. There are times when the Gorse Fox really wishes that some players wouldn't "help" by saying they will play as defenders. Today was such a case. Two players insisted on helping out. Neither had any idea what they were doing and the Gorse Fox found he was having to cover more attacks than if he had been a lone defender. It's just a case of discipline and that was seriously absent.

We've just had a nice long chat with the Coventry Hobbit. He started his new job on Monday and is absolutely full of it. He get his own toolkit tomorrow, but has been working on parts for an Aston Martin today. The Silver Vixen commented to the Gorse Fox that she had never heard him so enthused.

Ellie is with us overnight tonight. She is busy getting ready for bed under the close supervision of the Silver Vixen.
