Almost done and scratching an itch

It was a bright and sunny day. Hardly a cloud dared show its face against the wintery blue background. Urban-Cub dropped Ellie off as usual. We gave her breakfast, got her ready for school, and took her to the class. As usual she was first there and first to run in.

The landscapers were back. The water had drained sufficiently, thank goodness.

They laid some more scalpings and a resinous powder to help consolidated them. It was all flattened with a plate-whacker, then they started wheeling in the bags of stone. It didn't take long and, by late morning, the bulk of the work was done. The Gorse Fox showed them where various items should be placed and then they cleaned up and left for the day. They will return tomorrow or Friday to stake one of our trees... but that's it.

We are very pleased with the outcome. The "Flamingo" stone looks to have been a very good choice.

The Gorse Fox spent some time this afternoon looking at a programming system called "Scratch". This was developed at MIT as an educational aid to help kids become code-literate. It may be just too early to start scratching that itch with Ellie, but the Gorse Fox thought he would try to get to grips with what could be done with it. It only took a few minutes and he had a small game written that he plans to expand as time permits. The idea is that the game is a quiz taking part in a jungle and the player (Ellie) has to identify the animals we find and click on the right letters that start the animals name. (It may change - it's just that was his first idea for a little a project).

The Silver Vixen went back to Angmering today for Pilates. The Zoom sessions on Wednesday have now ceased. After the Pilates, she was meeting up wit Gracie Fields for coffee and a chat. It was nearly 14:30 before the Gorse Fox saw her.

Ellie is back with us overnight tonight and the Gorse Fox can hear her splashing the Silver Vixen in the bathroom as he writes.
