The Gorse Fox decided that the scanner issue had to be resolved. He started up Merlin (the Windows laptop) and downloaded the full set of device drivers from the Brother website. He then applied the drivers and tested the outcome. Success!
As a more complex test, the Gorse Fox has just scanned part of an 1888 map of Birmingham. The scan was beautifully clear and the resolution high enough for the Gorse Fox to blow it up to examine it in detail that he just couldn't detect on the paper map.
