It will come no surprise that the sky is clear, the sun is shining, and the temperature is again in the high 20s. The Gorse Fox has decided that he could get used to summers like this (particularly now that commuting is no longer part of his daily agenda).
He headed off to Worthing for the football. We had a surprisingly good turn out. He thought that the heat may keep the numbers down, but we managed to collect 26 players before splitting into teams. The Gorse Fox played for the yellow-bibs today. Looking at his team he thought they looked pretty strong and was expecting to do well. It didn't quite go to plan. The first game ended up as 1-1 draw. The second game was a disaster, with us losing 4-1. The only consolation was that the Gorse Fox scored the goal for our side. Finally we managed to win the last game 1-0. Not a great set of results considering the personnel, but it was fun playing.
The second hour was less successful. In fact, with only 7 players, it was cancelled. Very frustrating as the Gorse Fox had been pacing himself on the assumption he would be playing for two hours. If he'd know it was just an hour he would have covered more ground.
Back home the Silver Vixen was pottering in the garden. We had a nice tuna salad for lunch and she returned to the garden and the Gorse Fox headed round to the local shops to visit the barber's shop. A quiet afternoon is in store... some lamb steaks are marinating in the fridge and the Gorse Fox is about to start prepping some vegetables to flash fry and add to some bulgar wheat to make a couscous-like accompaniment.
