Back to school

 Today was the first day of the new school year. Ellie moves up to Year 1. She was excited, going to bed last night, but when she came into our room just after 7:00 she was complaining about how loud Nana's alarm was. The Gorse Fox can sympathise. 

We re-introduced the morning protocol. Breakfast followed by ablutions, then dressing in the school uniform  so that we would be ready when it was time to leave for school. Ellie was very quick off the mark today and we had 20 minutes to kill before it was time to go.

As we left the house, Urban-Cub turned up. She was on her way from work to the doctor's... but just had time to see Ellie before school.

We had no problems getting her into class. She couldn't get there quickly enough and as soon as she had all of her stuff (water bottle, coat, school bag) the Silver Vixen and Gorse Fox were dismissed and she charged to the classroom door.

Back home, we had a quiet breakfast and reflected on the huge change over the past year.

The morning was filled with various domestic and administrative chores. Once these were complete, the Gorse Fox managed to spend the afternoon with a book and the Silver Vixen buried herself in the sewing room.

Urban-Cub has been signed off work for a week (and possibly two). As a result, whereas we had expected Ellie to stay here all week, she is now home.
