It has been a quiet day. The Gorse Fox had his morning call with the cousins. He was surprised by the vitriol for the Monarchy that was exposed by one of them... at least the other anti-Royal had the good grace to say that this was not the time to discuss such matters. All of the rest were, like the Gorse Fox, deeply saddened by the events of the week and wished the new King a long and fruitful reign.
After the call the Gorse Fox and Silver Vixen watched the formal Accession of the King as televised from St James's Palace. It was an incredible event whose protocol stretches back over the centuries. The Gorse Fox was particularly impressed by the way in which Penny Mordaunt conducted the ceremony. She was the Gorse Fox's preferred candidate for Prime Minister in the recent elections.
The Silver Vixen spent much of the day pottering in the garden. The Gorse Fox helped out, where he could, by trimming the climbing roses as they stitched towards the International Space Station.
The balance of the afternoon was spent with our books.
