Down

It was a chilly one, overnight. The Gorse Fox was first up and it was nearly 30 minutes before Ellie and Urban-Cub came down, with the Silver Vixen soon after. We walked Ellie round to Dizzy Ducklings and gave her a coin for the Lucky Dip which had been planned.

The Silver Vixen had made an beautiful advent calendar. It has the required number of pockets with little surprises in each. The Gorse Fox had to get it hung up - at a level suitable for Ellie to reach. This required a trip too the local DIY store to get some dowelling and something to approximate a finial. It was harder than expected and in the end, the Gorse Fox had to go to both Wickes and B&Q to find what he needed. There's still one finial to fit, but because of the time it takes the glue to set-up, only one can be done at a time.

Simon the Landscaper has finished all of the edging and spent most of the day working on the drainage system. It has taken longer than expected because the drains that were laid with the Orangery weren't quite what he expected. He's worked it all out now, and hopes to get a good run at it tomorrow. The skip arrived mid-afternoon. This has meant that Tyler has been able to start clearing some of rubble and soil that has been removed.

It seems that the Internet is down for many people around the estate(*). Some are with EE, some with Sky, and some with BT. This include Two Hats, next door. It seems bizarre that he's down, and yet we're still operating, and we both get our service from BT. Clearly our cabling goes through different distribution cabinets.

(*) The lesson here is that if you are depending on the Internet, then you should back it up - all of it - every night. If you don't have enough disk space, then print it all out.  :)
