Keeper

Despite the forecast, it has been a lovely day. We dropped Ellie off at Dizzy Ducklings and headed home. The Gorse Fox did a quick change and headed out for football.

Today was the first day of the new football regime. It worked pretty well. We had about 33 players… and 10 were carved off to play in the 5-a-side cages, while the rest of us were split into teams of 5 or 6. As it happens, the Gorse Fox was in the only team of 5. He wasn’t too worried. When he saw his teammates he was confident that we would give good account, even if outnumbered in every game. Two of the players the Gorse Fox had never met before. One, the goal keeper, was absolutely fantastic. Duncan, it turns out used to play for4 Horsham, and then for Bognor. He was certainly a class act, and was very good at telling the Gorse Fox what he wanted. We won the first game 3-0. The second game was tighter, but again we prevailed. This time it was 2-0. In the final game, we did concede a goal, but we still won, 3-1 (with the last goal scored by the Gorse Fox).

This afternoon we picked up Ellie and her friend Bonnie and they came back with us for the afternoon. Bonnie was no trouble, and it was nice to be able to help out her parents (who had an appointment).
