Fix

It's been dry and bright throughout the day. It would have been the perfect day for a long walk but the Gorse Fox had a couple of things that had to be cleared and the Silver Vixen and Urban-Cub had to go into Chichester.

The Gorse Fox has mentioned that he has had a problem with his backup system. The developers came through with a set of suggestions, so the Gorse Fox had to try them out and see if everything returned to normal. It was a six step process but at the end it looked as things were there. They weren't. Closer examination showed the software, while able to see,  was unable to access the various backup volumes. The Gorse Fox looked at the various privacy settings. They looked correct. When in doubt, try a clean re-boot. He did. Everything burst back into life. The problem was solved... clearly their six steps should have been seven.

Old Bill collected his new iMac. He's already run into trouble which may require a reset, but he's given up for tonight. The Gorse Fox stands ready to parachute in and help. Talking of iMacs, the Gorse Fox's iMac (Condor) has ticked along happily since 2012. He has started to think about a replacement, but notices that all of the new models seem to come with only 256GB or 512GB of SSD as standard (though larger configs are supported). He decided that he should consider what the options are for using an external SSD in addition to the standard configuration. Various options seem suitable, and can connect to the Thunderbolt 3 port on an iMac. There's no panic, but it would be interesting to see the impact on price of Black Friday on such devices, next month.
