Neighbourly

We made the most of another quiet day.

The morning was spent sorting out the Orangery as it will be needed for Boxing Day and was being used as a staging ground for the decorations. The Gorse Fox managed to get the boxes and bags stashed away in the garage while the Silver Vixen dusted and polished. We also brought the collapsible table in from the garage, ready for the feeding frenzy. Once done, the Gorse Fox  used the Karcher to wash the floors. Finally, we concluded, it was all set.

The Gorse Fox spent some time looking at the St Columba’s College archives, checking that he had all his old class photos and conversely they had the full set. It turns out that there were a couple that they had which the Gorse Fox didn’t and there was one that he had that they didn’t. In the school we used to have 3 streams: Derry, Kelly’s, and Swords. The split seemed fairly random in the lower years, but as you progressed the split seemed to be more relevant to your choice of subjects. The problem that the Gorse Fox faces is that, while he remembers which classes he was in for most of his school life, he cannot remember which class he was in during the 4th year. What doesn’t help is that he doesn’t appear to be in any of the photos for that year. Now, this is not the sort of information which drives the economy, makes technological breakthroughs, or solves world poverty; but it is frustrating that such an item of trivia has slipped from his memory.

The evening was fun. We had, along with many of the neighbours from the Crescent, been invited to drinks and nibbles at a neighbour’s house. Their house was decorated within an inch of its life and, to be fair, looked very festive. We had a lovely evening chatting and enjoyed the opportunity to catch up with some of the neighbours who we see less often. It was late by the time we left, but we had enjoyed a splendid evening.
