Boxing Day

We have had another family day for Boxing Day. Today it was the turn of the Gorse Fox and Silver Vixen to host everyone. The Gorse Fox was up early to get the preparations under way, and the Silver Vixen was soon up and helping. Mountains of food were retrieved from fridges, freezers, ovens, and cupboards. Slowly the table began to sag under the weight, but still the food kept coming.

Everyone turned up at the same time. There was the Gorse Fox's sister, brother-in-law, and nephew, there was Urban-Cub, there was Ellie, and of course there was Cousteau-Cub and the Coventry Hobbit. The house now full, the festivities could begin.

As you might expect, there were more presents. Ellie was amazed that Santa Christmas (as she insisted on calling him) had been to our house as well as hers. He had chosen well. He had brought her an apron (featuring characters from "Frozen"), some utensils for baking cup cakes, lots of boxes of craft bits, and heavens alone knows what else.

There is no doubt that we had all been immensely lucky and we were thankful for what we had received.

The Gorse Fox returned to the kitchen and finished cooking the various pies, rolls, snacks, and other items. In then end everything was ready and we called through to let the buffet commence. Even then, the Gorse Fox realised that there were a couple of items he had forgotten about, but there really no pint as it was clear that we may has have slightly over-catered.

Urban-Cub was the first to leave. She was on an early shift at the airport in the morning, so needed to get home and get some sleep. Ellie stayed with us and will sleep here overnight. Soon after seven everyone else left with Trevor giving a lift to Cousteau-Cub and the Coventry Hobbit.

Ellie was exhausted and the Silver Vixen took her to bed and read her a story. Peace descended. It had been another lovely family day.
