The weather had been very wet overnight but the rain had stopped. The Silver Vixen was off first thing this morning. She had to stop off at Urban-Cub's with some stuff before going on to Pilates and then meeting up with a friend.
The Gorse Fox had his football on the schedule. Traffic was a little slow, possibly due to the weather, but more-likely it was the Christmas traffic for Haskins Garden Centre that was slowing and disrupting the normal flow.
The game today was a straightforward 5-a-side. The problem was that we had a youngster playing. He used to be very good and was scouted by several teams before his knee ended his career. This meant that Krakatoa Jack and the Gorse Fox decided we should counter-balance his influence by playing against him The sides were picked accordingly. The Gorse Fox was playing in Orange and we drew first blood when the Gorse Fox intercepted a pass and shot low and hard into the bottom left hand corner of the Yellow net. Unfortunately, by half time, we had conceded 2 but that seemed retrievable. The second half was hard. The youngster had found his shooting boots and was peppering our keeper. We hung on though, and in the end managed a creditable 4-3 defeat.
It's been a quiet afternoon and as the Gorse Fox writes this, a Bolognese ragu is bubbling in the pan and soon some spaghetti will be prepared. We need to eat early tonight as we are heading out to the John Lewis Christmas event in Chichester.
Oh yes, and we have now switched the Silver Vixen's phone back to its original number. All is well and she is in full communication again!
