Home Alone

We were up early. Diane had to finish her packing and have breakfast before we left to collect Zoe and Ellie. The car was loaded, the girls were in a party mood and we made our way towards Gatwick with a running commentary from Ellie, only broken by the occasional pause for breath. Leaving home at 9:00 on a Sunday morning worked out well. The roads were very quiet and we pulled into the car park at South Terminal just after 10:00. I escorted the girls through too check-in and up to Security. We said our goodbyes, and they headed through to departures while I made my way back to the car and drove home.

I sorted Jasper out with his lunch and then grabbed a bite to eat before heading up to the study where I spent a couple of hours working on a problem I have been having on "barnowl"... after a couple of hours, I decided to sleep on it and grabbed my Kindle for some reading in the Orangery.

I have just finished a delicious yellow lentil Dahl for my dinner and watched the progress of the girls flight as it approached Zakynthos. They took off an hour late but managed to make up some of the lost time. They are down on the ground now and I suspect it will be at least another 90 minutes before they arrive at the hotel. Meanwhile, Jasper and I will have a boy's night in.
