I was up early to greet Ellie when she was dropped off on Zoe's way to work. Ellie was still semi-conscious, so she went upstairs to snuggle down with Nan until the pair of them had woken properly. By the time they did come down, I had finished my first coffee and was ready to go to get washed and dressed. We have a routine whereby Ellie demands that I "dress to impress", and when I come back downstairs, she gives me marks for my outfit. Today, I had a plan. I dressed in my new Tuxedo with a striking blue and pink paisley waistcoat, matching tie and a handkerchief square. I snuck back downstairs and waited until Ellie noticed. (Meanwhile, Diane was filming this on her phone.) When Ellie finally looked up and saw me, I managed to score 5 out of 5 on the "dress to impress" scale. Content, I returned to the bedroom and changed.
The morning was occupied with some domestic chores and a return to the document-filing exercise. Today, I managed to consume all of the documents related to our current car, from purchase through to all of the servicing and MOTs.
After lunch, Diane and Ellie went through Ellie's wardrobe, checking for clothes she had outgrown. This, inevitably, led to a shopping trip to replace several items. I retired to the study and changed the approach I had been taking for backing up the document management system. This took a little experimentation and a couple of dry runs, but now looks more robust than the original design.
With the backup sorted and Diane and Ellie at the shops, I headed out for my walk. I wasn't out for too long, but it was nice to get the exercise.
