Nailed it

The Gorse Fox was up soon after 7:00, enjoyed his coffee and read through the paper and social media feeds. The Silver Vixen came down after a while and settled down with her tea and the online newspaper. It was Sunday, so the the Gorse Fox had football scheduled.

We had an odd number of players today. This meant a 6-v-5 game. The Gorse Fox ran his team picker algorithm. The first run would not have worked in practise. He ran it again. This would work, but the Gorse Fox predicted the yellow team (with 5) would race ahead in the first half, but the orange team (with 6) would  claw it back in the second half. This was exactly how it turned out.

The lads all turned up and we kicked off with the teams as chosen by the computer.  By half-time the yellow team was 5-1 ahead (with one of the goals from the Gorse Fox), but by the end of the second half the score had evened up to about 8-7 but we jointly concluded that we'd call it an 8-8 draw. So, the algorithm nailed it. (The Gorse Fox did manage to hit the crossbar twice and the post about 7 or 8 times - his shooting boots clearly need some adjustment).

This afternoon has been quiet. The Silver Vixen has been sorting out her sewing room and the Gorse Fox has  been looking through Irish records to try and find details of his 3xGt grandparents. Nothing popped out of the woodwork. This was very frustrating.
