Start Stop

The Silver Vixen's car was scheduled for some work at the garage. The Gorse Fox dropped the car off with further explanations of the fault that was to be fixed. They lent him a car and pottered off, back home.

Some time later the phone rang. It was the garage. The brakes had been replaced and the fault with the start/stop wasn't showing up. The Gorse Fox had a moment where his hackles rose. "What do you mean it doesn't show up. It has come up with an error message and failed to operate every day for the past year." he explained. "Well we ran our diagnostics and it says there is no fault. I'll send my driver out in it to check". The Gorse Fox is sure he harrumphed at that point.

Some time later the phone rang again. The car was ready. The Gorse Fox set off to examine and collect. Everything seemed in order. The car had also been washed. The start/stop function was working... and they claimed it had been all along. Pah! The Gorse Fox drove home. Start/stop was indeed working, but he noticed that the information light indicating its use had changed from white (which it was when we got the car) to green. The Gorse Fox suspects they applied a software update and that's what cleared the problem. We will be keeping a close eye on this.

The Gorse Fox also spent an inordinate amount of time trying to order some meds for Cousteau-Cub. The site from which he was ordering was not one that we had used before and, fortunately, he felt uneasy about it. On checking some online reviews, it was clear that they were not a site with whom one should do business. They seem to have been based in Ukraine and it appears that the drugs they send out may not contain the active ingredients that make them work in some cases. He found an alternate source but then had the problem we often find that they can't process the credit card. Long chat with Barclaycard was absolutely no help whatsoever... so he switched to Mastercard and it worked immediately.

Ellie had her fist "trial" day with the new child minder today. Apparently it all went very well.
