Halnaker House

Crossing back over the main road, the Gorse Fox started heading north. The bridleway ran alongside a high flint wall to the west, but after about half a mile the east side of the track opened onto parkland. He had arrived at Halnaker Park.

What was noticable were the skeletons of huge trees, bleached white and pointing accusingly at all comers. In the background stood the ruins of the Tudor Halnaker House (once the property of Robert de Haia, founder of the priory).
