While the world's news sources demonize the words of the Pope regarding Mohammed, and the ridiculous stage-managed outrage is played out across the world... The Gorse Fox respectfully suggests that the text of the Pope's speech is read in full, and in context.
The "offending" quotation was part of the discussion of a "dialogue that occured between the erudite Byzantine emperor Manuel II Paleologus and an educated Persian on the subject of Christianity and Islam, and the truth of both. It was presumably the emperor himself who set down this dialogue, during the siege of Constantinople between 1394 and 1402"
This is a crisis manufactured by the media as a result of their "sound-bite" approach to stories. The actual speech is a a learned theological treatise, and GF does not believe it could be construed as inflammatory in any way.
