Puerta del Carmen

Leaving the city centre we strolled back to the hotel and spent a pleasing and refreshing hour by (and in) the pool.

Dinner was a subject for debate. Heavy black clouds had rolled in and thunder rumbled round the city. The rain in Spain threatened to avoid the plain and pick on Granada. Should we stay put at the hotel or venture back into the town?

Adventure overcame doubt and we strolled back into the thick evening air. The 36C of earlier had dropped to 28C, but the air was thick with anticipation of a storm.

We took a table inside (caution getting the better of us) at Restaurante Puerta del Carmen. The place had a real buzz about it and everyone seemed to be enjoying themselves. After long consideration of the menu we made our choices and settled down to several hours fine conversaton, fine wine, and superb food. By the time we left the buzz had become a roar as more and more people crowded in. We had obviously stumbled upon "the place to be" (at least if you weren't at one of the many weddings that seemed to be held across the city this evening).
