Getting Better

Things had improved after yesterday’s bad start. At least it was 5:30 am before Jasper started yowling, and I was able to ignore him until 6:30 when I leapt from the covers, let Jasper out, prepared his morning treat (laced with pharmaceuticals) and went back up for a shower.

I limited myself to a single coffee, in case the Skoda garage called, while I read the overnight news and the “socials”. Sure enough, the garage called at 8:30. The parts had arrived. I finished some breakfast, exchanged a few messages with the girls in Zante, and set off with the car. It was a lovely morning for walking, so I thoroughly enjoyed the walk back through Shripney and along the medieval highway to North Bersted.

I topped up on coffee when I got home and then set about some admin, and then did some laundry before hiding away in the study for the rest of the morning. I had completely restarted the rebuild of “falcon”. I decided that there was a much more logical way of doing it. This was proved right, and I now have a much cleaner process that is easily reproducible. I stopped for some lunch and then returned to the study. I decided it would be nice to have a checkpoint - and an image of the completed system, before I embark on anything else. I found a set of utilities on a Raspberry Pi blog. Reading up on them, it was clear that they are widely used. I installed them and a few minutes later had an image of the Pi nestling in my backups folder.

A message came through. The car was ready for collection. I grabbed my keys and my AirPods and set off back to the Skoda garage. In exchange for half the national debt, they returned my car keys and the car. I headed home and settled in the Orangery for some Kindle time.

Early evening chores are complete, and I’ve been outside watering the garden. I still need to prepare a shopping list for tomorrow.
