It has been a day of mixed weather. Beautiful sunshine, bubbly clouds, and several periods of torrential rain. Fortunately, none of the rain showers coincided with either of us being out.
We got a message from Urban-Cub first thing. She wasn't well and would not be going in to work. She dropped Ellie off, but then returned home. We sorted Ellie out and got her to school as usual.
As soon as we were back, we switched the cars round and the Gorse Fox headed off to Worthing for football. It was looking as if we would have to play 9-v-9, which is dreadful; fortunately two further players turned up and the teams were re-shuffled so that we had 4 teams of 5. We were slightly hamstrung in the first two games by one of our number consistently under-hitting the ball and presenting it to our opponents. This cost us 2 goals in the first game (which we lost 2-1), and on goal in the second game (which we drew 1-1). In the third game he seemed to wake up and scored 3 of our 4 goals - but then went and conceded a penalty. Luckily the final score was 4-2 to us.
Football injuries can be troublesome things. The Gorse Fox survived another session without incident. He drove home and went up for a shower. He then managed to tweak his back while drying his feet. He is feeling immensely stupid! Hopefully, he will shake it off overnight so that he can play tomorrow.
Alex, the Alumni Relations person at the Gorse Fox's old school, has now sent out the invitations for his proposed reunion in September. Let's hope we get a decent turn out.
