We had a quiet start to the day. Urban cub had a day off, so Ellie was at home and the Gorse Fox just wandered around to escort them to school at the appropriate time. Urban-cub is looking after Cousteau-cub's two dogs for a few days, while she and the Coventry Hobbit have a short break in Edinburgh to celebrate their 10th Wedding Anniversary. The dogs were well-behaved when the Gorse Fox arrived and, whilst eager to come to school, they settled down quietly as we left.
The Gorse Fox settled down with the household accounts after breakfast. When they had been brought up to date, he returned to editing the 2012 blog extracts. On re-reading these he is reminded of what a torrid time those last couple of years before retirement had been. At one stage he was involved in four projects for the same financial institution. Each demanded his full attention for the whole week. He had forgotten how much he despised the client organisation and, indeed, that whole Finance business sector.
After lunch, we went across to see Old Bill and Lady Penelope. They had invited us in for a cup of tea and a chat. It was lovely to see them and great to see how well he is progressing after the health scares of last year. His hair is growing back well now and he has that spark behind the eyes that had been missing for so long. They are off to Coventry tomorrow. If all goes well, they will come back with a new car. That will add to the spark.
Urban-cub texted. She wants a copy of the Gorse Fox's curry recipe. Ellie won't eat any of her curries but likes Grandpas's. Grandpa will, clearly, have to write it down!
