Standards and Backups

Ellie leapt into be between us at about 6:30. We had about 10-15 minutes of peace before she started to fidget like a Mexican jumping bean and make as much noise as a passing Mariachi band. The Gorse Fox got up - resistance was futile.

Once the usual morning routine was complete and Ellie had been deposited at school, we settled in for breakfast and coffee while waiting for our Ocado delivery. Then it was the top-up run to Sainsbury's and a diversion on the way home to the Pet Food Warehouse for some food for Jasper. By the time we got home it was lunchtime.

This afternoon the Gorse Fox got distracted by a Facebook post that talked about archival storage. He picked up on the theme and posted a response about data backup and recovery. This, in turn, triggered various questions which culminated in a short dissertation on setting up backups. Additionally, the discussion on archival methods didn't address the issue of naming conventions for various filetypes within the archive. This triggered another long post from the Gorse Fox which seems to have struck a chord with a number of people. He hopes it helps.

After school, today, Urban-Cub took Ellie for her first swimming session. From now on these will be every Thursday. Apparently, she absolutely loved it and is now back here for the night as Urban-Cub has another early start.
