Testing

Urban-Cub and Ellie went out for the day to visit the Portsmouth Princess. The Silver Vixen and Gorse Fox popped in to Chichester. The Gorse Fox made use of this trip to try out a new app on the phone...

The problem that he was trying to address is the lack of geo-tags in photos taken on his real camera (as opposed to iPhone). Now, specific devices can be purchased (for silly amounts of money) to link to the camera and provide the geotag. There is, however, an app that you can download "Geotag Photos 2" which solves the problem for a few quid.

You start the app at the beginning of a photo trip and leave it running. It registers where you are by keeping a GPS track throughout your trip. Then, when you are finished you stop the app. The track is upload to iCloud. So far, so good.

The idea is that you download the photos from your camera into the iPad. Then using an app on the iPad called "Geotag Photos", you select the GPS track from iCloud and it searches through your photos and places them on the map which covers you track. If you are happy with the results, press the button and the geotags are applied to the photos.

The Gorse Fox took several photos while out, applied the geotags as described and is delighted with the results.

Oops, time to go. Urban-Cub and Ellie have just got back.
