Typical.

Jasper has simple habits. He gets up, he goes out (when the Gorse Fox opens the door), he comes in and has breakfast, then goes back out. A few minutes later he comes in and sits on his throne in the lounge. Simple.

Today, he knew something was afoot. The Gorse Fox doesn't know how. Our morning rituals were unchanged. Somehow, he knew though. He went out, he came in for breakfast, he went out then came back in and went straight upstairs and curled up under the middle of the bed in the spare room. (As the Gorse Fox has said before, he is convinced Jasper checks in to the Gorse Fox's Google Calendar and that's how he knows he should hide).

We left him as long as possible and tried to trick him into emerging by dishing up his lunch. No, he was having none of it. We tried some treats. No good. In the end we had to move the cot and then move the bed in order to grab him and put him in his basket.

Once in his basket he started to yowl. He keeps this up until we release him at his destination. Today that was the cattery. Fortunately he seemed to take to it and settled quite quickly. Let's hope he enjoys his short holiday.
