The Gorse Fox was awake early and as he was getting fidgety, he got up. It had been cold overnight and it looked as if there was frost on the Orangery roof. The broke through and it quickly lifted and turned into a lovely day.
The morning had been set aside to clean the oven's glass doors. This may sound trivial, but reading the manuals, the Gorse Fox was under no illusions. It was clear this was going to be very fiddly. The Gorse Fox was right to be apprehensive - as he started with the top oven and managed to get the glass panels off he knew that the re-assembly was going to be a beast. The glass panels cleaned up well enough and the inner panel slipped back into place easily. The outer panel, however, must have taken nearly 30 minutes to re-fit.
With the top oven done, Gorse Fox started on the main oven. This had to start with locking the hinges in place. This would have been a lot easier if the locks had looked anything like the illustrations in the manual. Eventually, the Gorse Fox realised where these locks were and from there on it was moderately straightforward. All four glass panels were removed and cleaned (very slowly) then reassembled. All in it had probably taken about 90 minutes but at least they are all clean now. The oven itself will probably be cleaned tomorrow.
In parallel to this, the Silver Vixen has been writing Jasper's biography (or is it his C.V.). With an upcoming stay at the cattery, it was important to provide all the necessary background information for the owner.
