Pistol Pete brought Ellie round late in the morning and she will stay with us overnight. As usual she has been a joy to have around as she played and ran, and ran, and ran, and ran... her grandfather is proud of the way she never stops running.
At lunchtime the Gorse Fox decided to try a recipe for frittata, prepared in the Instant Pot. It should have been easy, but one cock up followed another. Firstly the Gorse Fox, having prepared the vegetables and layered in a springform baking tin, poured in the egg and milk mixture. This immediately started to leak out of the bottom of the container. In his hurry to save the situation he poured it into a stainless steel bowl (that he had forgotten to grease). He then put it in the Instant Pot and fired it up. It was ten minutes into cooking before he had finished clearing the mess and realised that he had forgotten to add some of the ingredients - most importantly, the cheese. When it was "cooked" he add the cheese in a single layer and grilled it. Then turning it out it became clear that it was stuck to the bowl and the cheese had given off so much oil that it flooded the plate again and he had to clear up again. Not one of his finest culinary moments.
Despite this, the Gorse Fox was pleased to see that Two Hats and Tinkerbell have bitten the bullet and ordered an Instant Pot.
We had a nice long video call with Cousteau-Cub and The Mask today. Clearly The Mask is enjoying his holiday and getting in some lovely diving with Cousteau-Cub. It does look as if he's caught the sun today, though!
