This was the gentle route selected for the Gorse Fox's first real walk of the New Year. Starting at the NT car park (on the right of the map) it looped clockwise up past Lancy College, Lancing Ring, Steep Down and then back round via Coombehead Wood and Applesham Farm to the start.
Well that was the plan anyway. In practice GF was thwarted in his attempt to get to the planned start. The police had blocked the road, a helicopter hovered overhead, a fire tender, and several fire and police vehicles disappeared past the roadblock... and GF had to move the start point to the bottom rightmost point of the map. The police explained that there had been aa RTC** (road traffic crash) and the road was closed.
**When did RTAs (road traffic accidents) become RTCs? Is there an implication that these are now deliberate?
