Covered

We were up early to greet Ellie as she arrived. It was raining heavily and quite windy. Fortunately, we were spared the full fury of storm Éowyn, which has wreaked havoc in parts of the north. As the time for our walk to school drew near, I retrieved my waterproof trousers and jacket, and Ellie put on her boots and a large coat. We opened the door and discovered that the rain had just ceased. Doh!

There was no walk again this morning. I headed straight home for breakfast and then waved Diane off to her Cardiac Rehab session. I retired to the study and finished the editing of the 2024 blogs. With that finished, I could concentrate on the process of sending it for printing.  This was more complex than previous years because "lulu.com" has replaced the tool that creates the book covers, and the new tool does not include a template like the one I used before. I tried their new tool but could not find a simple way of retrofitting my cover design with any certainty that the colours and fonts would match. In the end, I downloaded a cover from a previous year - which is a pdf file - and used Adobe Acrobat to edit the pdf. I uploaded the amended file, and everything looks okay. I will probably have one more editing session against the finished journal and then send it off for printing.

There was a short Kindle break this afternoon before we collected Ellie. Once she was home, she wanted to work with Nana on her project about Roman leisure time. She also informed us that she had to do a poster about volcanoes for next Wednesday. While Ellie and Nana worked on the Romans, I spent some time digging up some useful information about volcanoes. She can do the poster on Monday or Tuesday.
