Ellie stayed with us overnight. In theory, Urban-Cub was due at work for 5:30. In practice she had spent all night throwing up - so she had stayed home. Ellie was very good and didn't wake up until 8:00. There was no school for her today. They are easing them in to school life - two days this week, 4 days next week, then full time.
Once breakfast and ablutions were complete we swung into action. As you will know, the Gorse Fox has been doing some woodwork. He invited Ellie to help. She was very excited by this idea. She came out onto the patio, where the Gorse Fox was working. She inspected what wood had survived and hadn't been turned into sawdust. She asked questions about what the Gorse Fox was doing and why. She helped him measure, she passed him screws and tools, and she even ended up fixing some of the screws with the electric screwdriver. She was very helpful.
After lunch Urban-Cub was well enough to have Ellie for the afternoon. The Silver Vixen walked her round. Though unplanned, we now have Ellie overnight again tonight. Urban-Cub has to go in early to try and retrieve the situation where the shop's chillers and baker have all failed and 1,000's of pounds of stock will have to be written off. Ellie has been very good since being dropped off, and she's now in bed.
