Zoe is on a later shift today so we didn't have to be up and about to receive Ellie. A lie-in was the order of the day. Jasper had clearly missed the memo. In fact, he was roaming about all over us soon after 6:00. He was not the flavour of the day.
Having the morning to ourselves we jointly demolished a pile of ironing and I managed to hit the household accounts for the first time in a week. It was very satisfying to get back on top of things.
When Ellie did arrive, she was delighted to be able to show us her new glasses. She has a slight imbalance between short and long sight and needs the glasses for close-up work such as reading and writing.
We'll see how long the novelty lasts. She did, however, spend most of the afternoon reading to me from a children's encyclopaedia... and did very well indeed.
Pete came to collect her just before 16:00 and left us to enjoy a quiet hour or so with our books in the Orangery.
