Diversion

Roadworks closed the railway bridge at Arundel for the weekend. The Gorse Fox and Silver Vixen had arranged to visit Betty and Barney Rubble in Old Basing... so needed a diversion. Traffic reports yesterday were not promising so the route chosen was through Storringto, Pulborough, Petworth, Midhurst and so forth.

What an excellent choice that turned out to be. On a glorious autumn morning with the leaves just starting their preparations for their grand finale the route was spectacular. Traffic was light and despite the longer route it only added about 10 minutes to the journey.

A super day was enjoyed (we think of it as help the aged) by all and was crowned by a very fine Sunday lunch at The Wellingston Arms near Stratfield Saye.

Good weather, fine food, good friends - perfect!
