Though early, the Gorse Fox and Silver Vixen had to queue to get into the Alcazar. Unlike the Alhambra, you do not have to worry about timed tickets (just turn up on a day that it's open!)
We were soon inside, entering through the Puerta del Lion. The Silver Vixen had taken an audio guide so she didn't have to listen to the Gorse Fox's interminable prattle.
The courtyards were dominated by the Moorish architecture. Some refurbishment is being performed at present to preserve the structure and decoration. This is part of the facade, taken from Patio de la Monteria, of the Palacio Pedro I - a unique example of the Mudejar style.
As you wander through the building little courtyards and gardens open up. Tour groups were clustered around listening to the guides speaking in machine-gun Spanish.
Most of the courtyards feature water in some way - a small rill, a tinkling fountain, or a pond such as this.
