The first part of the walk was along a bridleway in the woods. This weeks rain had rendered the track muddy and wet. The intrepid twosome trudged along the edges, along parallel tracks, dodged puddles, but still ended up slipping, sliding, and sinking to the ankles in the soft surface.
After about two or three miles the woodland cleared and the views opened up. The mud had already taken its toll on the legs... but we weren't to realise this until later.
