Looking down the hill you can see a farmhouse on the bottom right. To the left of this farm is a field with a very mottled surface. This is all that's left of Lower Barpham. Lower Barpham and nearby Upper Barpham were active communities, but were wiped out by the plague. (See also: Barpham Church and Barpham & Thornwick - Some Questions).
The view was breathtaking but the history tragic.
