Eye of the Storm

Today has been like the eye of a storm. Yesterday was busy and tomorrow will be busy, but today was more relaxed. I was up soon after 7:00 and Diane wasn't far behind me. We had a lazy breakfast before I settled down for my call with the cousins. There was nothing much to report, but I did recommend The Witchery (in Edinburgh) to Chris and Julia, who will be visiting early next month.

With the call finished, I cracked on with a few chores and Diane set about a pile of ironing. I took the opportunity to go for a walk. The sun was out, and as long as the wind was behind me, it was lovely and warm. When, however, I was walking into the wind it was really quite chilly. I walked about 5 miles, and it felt good after a couple of days when I was too busy.

My menu for tomorrow involves a Tom Kerridge recipe for beef short ribs. After a quick lunch, I made up the dry rub and completely coated the ribs before tucking them into a large sealed plastic container which will nestle in the fridge until tomorrow morning.

We managed to get some Kindle time in the afternoon, and dinner was a simple matter of eating some of yesterday's leftovers. After dinner, I made up the sauce/glaze that would coat the ribs while they cooked tomorrow. This is tucked in the bottom of the other fridge.
