I was up at 6:15, ready for Ellie's arrival at 6:30. After a quick cuddle, she headed upstairs to get into bed with Nana for a cuddle and warm-up. I took Di a cup of tea and then went down to read the news of the Democrats' triumph in the US midterms. This was news that probably cheered up most of the planet... and will only be surpassed when Trump is finally out of office (and hopefully behind bars).
My morning was spent catching up on some admin and dabbling with some backups. Di had her annual MOT at the doctor's. One reality of modern life is that it is becoming harder to buy things (particularly software or digital media). What it means is that you tend to accumulate subscriptions to use some software or to watch some media. I spent some time culling some of these subscriptions. This alerted me to an improvement I could make in next year's accounting spreadsheet. I have made some notes, and in December, when I start to craft the spreadsheet for next year, I will make these changes.
The afternoon was spent with my Kindle and the latest mystery from Iceland's rural police department (courtesy of a Finnish author).
Zoe has a very early start tomorrow (she has to get up to Dartford), so Ellie is staying with us overnight tonight.
