Relative Calm

There was no need to get up early. Despite this, I was drinking my first coffee by 07:20, Diane, however, managed a further 90 minutes in bed.

Once breakfast was over, we set about preparations for tomorrow. In previous years we have set up the Orangery as a dining room. With the new sofas installed, this was not going to work. Chairs were moved from the family room and our spare dining table was brought in from the garage and cleaned up. We think we have a workable plan, but time will tell.

Zoe popped in to collect the various parcels that were left behind last night. Her plan was to take Ellie ice skating this afternoon.

As we tucked into some cold turkey for lunch Diane said those fateful words; "I've had an idea. Do they make circular tables that expand out to accommodate more people?". I knew that they did. I didn't know where to find them, nor how much they cost. I thought about Winchester, where they have King Arthur's Round Table - but we don't want something that's second-hand. I pressed Google into service and soon realised that such tables vary wildly in price and £11500 wasn't unusual. I did find a table at a moderately sensible price and we measured up. It should fit... and with the Boxing Day sales, we managed a significant reduction in price. I just have to wait for 4-6 weeks for delivery.

We had some Kindle time this afternoon before I returned to the kitchen to prepare some of the food for tomorrow and cook this evening's dinner.

A quiet evening is planned.
