With Ellie staying overnight, we were in no hurry to get up this morning. I was up first and had the best part of an hour of peace and caffeine before the girls descended from the bedrooms.
The morning was filled with some general tidying up of the remaining Xmas decorations. I put up the cards on their ribbons and then moved the unused decorations back to the garage.
Ellie was getting stir-crazy after spending most of the week with us (while sick) and now being with us but not getting out. We said we would take her to Hotham Park. The problem was that the 7C temperature felt more like -5C with the prevailing winds. We insisted she wear a thick winter coat. She did not want to wear the coat... and threw a strop when we arrived at the park. We gave her an ultimatum: wear the coat and enjoy the Christmas rides and the ice rink, or continue with your strop and go straight home. The strop continued so we drove straight home.
After lunch, I had to do a quick run to the shops. I hit the Pet's store for cat litter; Next for a new top that Diane had ordered; and Sainsbury's where we needed some bananas, milk, coke and butter. Zoe said how busy they had been. People were queueing to get into the car park, queueing to get into the store, and queueing to get to the checkouts. By the time she came to collect Ellie, Zoe had done nearly 40K steps and the store was heading for another record day.
Ellie is having dinner with Zoe, then coming back here to sleep tonight.
