Early

For some stupid reason, I was wide awake by 5:15 and by 5:30 had conceded defeat and went downstairs for a coffee. I had a very quiet hour before Zoe turned up with Ellie. Ellie was subdued, having only just woken up, so she sat and had a cuddle with Grandpa before going upstairs to wake Nana. The sun was up the sky was blue, the forecast was good and so we bounced along the road to take Ellie to school.

After dropping her at the classroom, I went off for my morning walk. This gave me time to finish the audiobook I had been listening to and start a new one by a different author. I'm not far enough into the story to make any judgment yet, but it seems promising.

Once home, and with breakfast tucked away, we started on detailed preparation and packing for our forthcoming trip. Lists were consulted (and amended) and cases were packed. Cleaning was undertaken, and the bed was stripped.

After lunch, there was some time for the Kindle and some quiet time before collecting Ellie. She was in the Athletics after-school club, so we didn't need to collect her until 16:00. When she charged out of class, she was in full flow telling us about the athletics session and how they would be participating in a tournament in July. We managed to shepherd her home to Zoe's where we sat and waited for Zoe to come home. Diane got Ellie started on her homework, which she lapped up.

We came home for some dinner and will now finish our preparation for the morning.
