Chilling

I was up early. There was no need for an early start, but not having slept much it seemed sensible to get going. Ellie was dropped off at 8:45 and we just pottered over breakfast and our various iPads. Finally, Ellie went up for a bath and hair wash (in preparation for a return to school tomorrow) and I retreated to my study to get on with various items of administrivia.

I was sorry to hear about the death of the Pope. He has been a liberal breath of fresh air and seemed to be a good and caring man. I hope his successor keeps up his moral trajectory.

Ellie was glued to the TV until lunchtime, but we switched it off for the afternoon. Ellie had some project work to complete on the subject of the rainforest. She was not in the mood for this and whined and sulked her way through the task. At least it got finished, and I have laminated it.

Diane spent the afternoon sitting on the floor with Ellie, playing games and doing some crafts. When Zoe turned up she was clutching 3 huge sides of salmon. They had been reduced, then reduced again, and eventually, we got the lot for about £25. The only problem I had was cutting them down into manageable sizes for freezing. Both freezers have a surfeit of salmon and we may not need to buy any more for several months. (Guess what we had for dinner).
