Ridiculous

Sitting in the kitchen with a cup of coffee at 5am is a ridiculous state of affairs now that I am 11 years into retirement. When I was working, this was not an uncommon event, but in retirement, it seems daft. I was, however, wide awake and beginning to fidget. Not wanting to disturb Di, I went downstairs with my Kindle and settled in the kitchen.

Just after 6:30, Ellie arrived, and the day began properly. She was already washed and dressed, and after the statutory cuddle with me and then upstairs to Nana, she settled down to do some practice on her times tables. As it was a wet and murky start, I told Di to stay put and I walked Ellie to school. Once home (no walk today), I grabbed some breakfast and then caught up on some admin. The most significant item was probably a call with EE to change our current mobile plan so that it incorporated European roaming.

Late in the morning, we did a short raid on Sainsbury's, then across to M&S, where I was expecting to collect some clothes. Unfortunately, we were too early, so we had to kill some time. We went across to Costa for a coffee, and still having time at our disposal, went for lunch in Nando's. We had no sooner ordered our meals when the email arrived to say the collection was ready.

Back home, I tucked into my packing. It was meant to be an exercise to see what would fit in the cases, but in the end, I completed the packing with the exception of toiletries. Tomorrow, I can dedicate myself to "tech" packing and "hand luggage".
